⚡ THE SUPERCHARGED SISTERS™ ⚡

For Educators

Standards-aligned math picture books built for read-alouds, small groups, and math intervention — with representation most classroom libraries are still missing.

2. Amani Counts the StarsCounting on, grouping by tens, skip countingK.CC.1–7, 1.NBT.1

Books 1–5 all target ages 4–7 at a consistent reading level — so a whole set works for one class, not a range you have to differentiate across. The series steps up with each set of five.

In the classroom

  • Read-aloud — 24pt type, 25–45 words per spread
  • Math intervention — one concept per book, story before notation
  • Participation built in — each book pauses to ask the reader a question
  • Small group — five discussion questions in every book
  • Extension — three no-prep activities per book
  • Gifted enrichment — the math goes deeper than the reading level suggests
  • SEL — the protagonist fails, asks for help, and succeeds

What’s in every book

  • Character guide introducing both sisters
  • Math Concepts Covered with Common Core codes
  • Five read-aloud discussion questions
  • Three extension activities
  • A note for grown-ups on the representation choices

Accessibility

  • Body text set at 24pt throughout
  • Cream background rather than white — reduces glare
  • Text contrast 13:1, exceeding WCAG AAA
  • Rounded, open typeface with generous letter spacing
  • One idea per line, broken for breath

A note on representation. Amani is autistic and has ADHD. Alaina has OCD. Both are Black. These are not framed as challenges to overcome — they are the reason the sisters can solve what nobody else can. Written by a mom and her two daughters, who are the real Amani and Alaina.
